Cleaning for success

Badirammogo – meaning working together – is what the cleaning staff at Minpro are doing. Badirammogo was formed in 2004 by 12 Implats cleaning staff and today boasts 23 employees who are responsible for cleaning at Minpro and providing refreshments for visitors.

Phokeng-born Lenah Letlhake is the manager of the closed corporation and has worked at Implats for 30 years, “I am very grateful to Implats for giving us a chance to start our own business. The fact that they are readily available on a daily basis to provide assistance and guidance when we have problems makes things even better,” said Lenah.

Muhammed Patel, HR Manager at Rustenburg operations said, “Before we outsource the services we first look at the financial feasibility. We then sell the idea to the unions and get a buy-in from them. A good relationship exists between us and the unions and we have their blessings in doing these projects.”

When the decision to outsource the kitchen services was taken, some employees opted for their severance packages. Lenah is grateful she chose to continue with Implats in that Badirammogo has opened other opportunities for her. She is currently negotiating for a contract in Rustenburg for cleaning a block of flats.

“It is our wish to see their business grow outside Implats. Our doors are always open for them and we will always be on hand to provide necessary assistance. We will continue working together for the same goal, the success of Badirammogo,” said Muhammed.
