The change house with Serole Cleaning

Serole Cleaning Services CC

Aubrey Serole started working at Implats in 1981 as a laboratory operator. He has worked through a number of divisions within Implats and found himself at the change house in 1994.

As a well qualified supervisor at the Minpro change house, it came as no surprise when he received the tender to take over from Implats and manage the company change houses. In August 2003, Serole Cleaning Services was formed after Aubrey was awarded the tender.

“Implats was instrumental in setting up the company. They were very helpful in arranging all the documents needed in the registration of the company,” said Aubrey.

Currently employing 56 people, Serole Cleaning Services started with a mere 16 employees who were already working at the change house. The contract is to look after the Minpro, smelter, concentrator and the UG2 plant change houses. The company is also responsible for the upkeep of gardens at Minpro, a contract for which he proposed and was awarded in 2007.

Anna Kgaswane, Implats’ Sustainable Development Manager, said “Improving the lives of our employees, their families and communities is an important target for us at Implats. Our pride and joy is seeing these small businesses that are started here grow. We support the development of small businesses and are here to see them become successful.”

Aubrey has a dream of growing his business and would like one day to be responsible for the change houses in the neighbouring mines in Rustenburg. “If I could get a contract from one of the other mines, more employment opportunities will be created and our economy would grow; he remarks. The company still receives guidance from Implats and the support from the unions, particularly the Minpro branch.
