Impala’s key mining initiative for this year will be to maintain focus on on-reef development and capital project delivery with our goal being to produce one million platinum ounces by 2014.

Where we operate

Headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, Implats is structured around six main operations (with a total of 22 underground shafts): Impala, Zimplats, Marula, Mimosa, Two Rivers and Impala Refining Services.

Our operating framework enables each of these entities to stay close to their stakeholders within the framework of a groupwide approach to managing sustainability – the triple bottom-line of economic, social and environmental aspects.

Implats has four distinct areas of operation and growth:

  • Managed mine-to-market operations comprising Impala, Marula, Zimplats and Mimosa, where the group has direct control over the entire value chain.
  • Managed mine-to-market projects such as Leeuwkop.
  • Non-managed mine-to-market operations where the group has an interest in the full value chain, but where the operation is not managed. This applies only to Two Rivers.
  • Impala Refining Services, which leverages Impala’s smelting and refining assets to process concentrate and matte for group operations as well as third parties.
